ESPN College Game Day host Kirk Herbstreit can’t make up his mind when it comes to LSU Football.

A couple of weeks ago, Herbstreit questioned whether or not LSU’s players were even interested in playing football anymore.

That’s a bold accusation for any analyst to make.

This week, Herbstreit went the complete opposite direction with his comments about LSU and Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron.

What does Kirk Herbstreit really think of LSU Football?

After questioning LSU players and their commitment to football, Herbstreit said this week that he felt like the Tigers are playing hard and fighting this season.

Here’s what he had to say earlier this week on the College Football Podcast (via 247Sports):

"I have to give them credit because this team is fighting, whereas last year you could not say that. Last year, they had actual opt-outs that left the team, and then you had players that remained but felt like at times they opted out. You know it was just a weird year for them on the back end of a national title. They lost so much, and I gotta give them credit."

Those comments are a lot different than what Herbstreit said in late September.

Though to be completely fair, Herbstreit did speak a bit on why he questioned LSU’s fight last month.

"I wonder, because of last year after they lost to UCLA I thought, OK, they probably lost their fight for the year."

So which is it Kirk?

I mean, it’s not like LSU has played great since his comments. The Tigers barely beat Mississippi State, before losing to Auburn.

And suddenly Herbstreit thinks he sees some fight that he didn’t see before?

Here’s what I think happened: I think Herbstreit made that comment before he realized what was coming out of his mouth. And he regretted it.

The truth is that LSU’s players are fighting. They just don’t have the right coach to lead to them to where they want to go.

Herbstreit’s criticism in late September should’ve been for Orgeron, not the players.

His comments now are just an attempt to try to save face.

Unfortunately for Herbstreit, we all see through it.
