Boston Bruins place Mass. native Chris Wagner, John Moore on waivers, according to reports
The Boston Bruins have placed two of their veteran players on waivers a week ahead of their season opener, according to multiple reports.Chris Johnston of TSN tweeted shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday that the Bruins waived forward Chris Wagner and defenseman John Moore.Both players signed with Boston as free agents in July 2018 and played with the organization for each of the last three seasons.Wagner, a native of Walpole, Massachusetts, played 184 games in his time with the Bruins. He scored 20 goals and notched 14 assists for 34 points. He also played in 35 playoff games and recorded four goals and one assist.The 30-year-old played in 41 of 56 games this past season and put up five points (two goals and three assists). He is in the second year of a three-year, $4.05 million contract extension that he signed with Boston in November 2019.Moore played 90 games with the B's, scoring six goals and notching 12 assists for 18 points. He appeared in 11 postseason games with the team, but did not record any points.The 30-year-old played just five games for Boston last season and underwent a hip arthroscopy and labral repair on March 22 that shelved him for the rest of the campaign.Both players were part of the Bruins team that reached the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals. Wagner played in 12 of Boston's first 16 games during that playoff run an injury he suffered in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals kept him out of the Stanley Cup Finals. Moore played in just five of the team's first 16 playoff games before playing five of the seven games in the Stanley Cup Finals against the St. Louis Blues.If Wagner and Moore are not claimed off waivers by another NHL team within 24 hours, they can officially be signed to Boston's American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
