Roval results from Charlotte Motor Speedway; NASCAR Playoffs

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes the green flag in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 17-turn ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway is set for the NASCAR Playoffs.

This is a playoff elimination race. The final race in the Round of 12 will trim the playoff field to just 8 drivers.

Austin Cindric and Justin Allgaier line up on the front row. 67 laps of road course racing are up next.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 20 (1-20 / 67)

Green flag, they run even at the front into turn one as they fan out four wide behind them. The remain side by side through the infield at the front. Cindric finally clears him, Allgiaer give him a bump but can;t take the spot.

Lap 2, Sage Karam spins in the infield. Jade Buford gets collected and the caution is out.

Green, Allgaier noses ahead on the outside into turn one. They remain side by side though the infield. They rub doors and fight for space, Cindric clears him into turn 8.

Lap 8, Justin Allgaier wheel hops and he chases it across the track. Allgaier clips the wall with the right rear. Heavy damage, no caution.

Lap 9, race leader Austin Cindric misses the back stretch chicane. He comes to a full stop in the next chicane to sever a penalty. They hands the lead to Hemric, Cindric still runs 2nd.

Lap 11

Lap 11, Gray Gaulding has stalled and the caution is out.

Green, Hemric gets the jump and he’s clear before turn one. Cindric holds 2nd and pulls right to his rear bumper.

4 to go in stage one, Hemric leads Cindric by 1.5 seconds.

2 to go, Hemric stays out as Cindric hits the pit lane.

1 to go, the caution is out as Kris Wright slows with a broken trackbar.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 20 (21-40 / 67)

Hemric leads the rest of the field to the pit lane. Cindric stays out and cycles back to the lead.

Green flag on stage two, Cindric leads Sam Mayer out of turn one. Hemric quickly climbs to 3rd with a three wide move in turn one.

Lap 29, Josh Bilicki slows with heavy damage and the caution is out. Bilicki slammed the curb and it ripped the curb out of the track and the nose off the car. He lost brakes to cause the issue.

Green, Cindric leads into turn one as Mayer spins the tires on the outside. Hemric sticks his nose to the inside but can’t take over the lead.

Lap 36, Brett Moffitt drops debris on the track, caution.

Cindric and others hit the pit lane. Hemric and Haley line up on the front row for the restart, Cindric restarts 20th.

Green, Hemric leads into turn one. Justin Haley holds 2nd.

1 to go in stage two, Hemric leads Haley by a car length.

Daniel Hemric hangs on to win stage two! Ty Gibbs and Harrison Burton make contact in the final corner. Burton brushes the wall under the flag stand.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 27 (41-67 / 67)

Hemric heads to the pit lane. Ty Gibbs cycles to the lead with Sam Mayer alongside. Cindric stays out as well and restarts 3rd, Hemric restarts 17th.

Green flag on stage three, Gibbs is clear into turn one.

Penalty: Myatt Snider has been hit with a restart violation and well serve a pass through.

Lap 46, Sam Mayer slides through turn 8. Allmendinger gets the power down and gets a run under him down the backstretch, Allmendinger to 2nd. Cindric quickly takes 3rd away, Mayer to 4th.

20 to go, Ty Gibbs blows the back stretch chicane. He has to come to a complete stop to serve the penalty. As he does, AJ Allmendinger takes over the lead.

18 to go, Gibbs misses the chicane once again. He’s suffering from brake issues.

15 to go, Gragson wheel hops into the back stretch chicane. He comes to a full stop and drops to 19th.

10 to go, Allmendinger leads Cindric by 4 seconds.

9 to go, Cindric gets loose in turn five. Mayer works inside. Mayer gets loose in turn 8 and Cindric retakes 2nd. Haley is closing on both of them.

6 to go, Haley dives to the inside of Mayer for 3rd into turn one. He clears him and goes right after Cindric for 2nd. Mayer fights back and puts Haley back to 4th.

5 to go, Allmendinger leads by 9 seconds. They continue to slice for 2nd.

4 to go, Tommy Joe Martins slams the wall and the caution is out.

Hemric pits from 6th for fresh tires as the top five stay out.

Green, Allmendinger leads as Cindric spins the tires on the outside lane. Mayer leans on the rear bumper of Allmendinger.

Gibbs dives to the inside of Mayer into the finish chicane. He takes 2nd away.

1 to go, Allmendinger leads Gibbs by ten car lengths.

Mayer spins Gibbs in turn five! Gibbs saves it, no caution.

Cindric looks inside of Mayer for 2nd in the final chicane. Mayer misses the corner and he’s forced to come to a stop and serve a penalty.
