Tyson Fury Vs. Deontay Wilder Preview as Boxing Titans Fight for Third Time

Tyson Fury is the heavy favorite heading into his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder on Saturday night.

After drawing their first match in 2018, the Gypsy King knocked Wilder out in the seventh round to win the WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles last year.

While boxing fans were desperate for an all-British world title heavyweight clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua this year, both men ended up facing different opponents.

Joshua suffered a shock defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in London last month—and a shock is something Fury will be looking to avoid at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this weekend.

Betfair has priced Fury at 4/11 to beat Wilder, with the Bronze Bomber 9/4 to exact revenge—while a draw is 25/1.

If Fury beats Wilder for a second successive time and Joshua sees off Usyk in their expected rematch, we may finally be able to witness the highly-anticipated fight.

What happened in previous fights?

Historical data from Betfair shows during their first fight, Wilder was as short as 4/9 to win when knocking down Tyson Fury in the 12th round, all before the Brit overcame the odds to claim a draw—making his comeback to now be odds-on favorite in Fight III all the more astonishing.

Fury was then priced at Evens heading into his rematch with Wilder, who was 3/1 to beat the Gypsy King.

And during their rematch bout, Fury was much more fancied with his longest odds being at 5/4, while his shortest odds were 1/97.

Now, Betfair is not anticipating an upset with Fury 4/11 to get the better of Wilder again.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: "It is no surprise to see Tyson Fury as the heavy 4/11 favorite to beat Deontay Wilder again given how dominant he was in their second fight.

"Fury is always relentless to prove any of his doubters wrong and a solid shout could be to back him at 10/11 to knock Wilder out again in Nevada this weekend."

What's been said

Wilder extraordinarily accused Fury of cheating in the latter's victory last time out by claiming the Gypsy King doctored his gloves in their rematch fight, which led to the famous knockout.

Responding to Wilder's claims in their pre-match press conference this week, Fury insisted his rival was 'weak'.

He said: "I don't care. Because obviously it's coming from an unwell person. It tells me he is weak mentally.

"He is a weak person who I am going to knock spark out on Saturday night. He is even copying me, he's got no T-shirt on today."
