Diogo Jota was missing from the Portugal squad to face Qatar this evening with the Liverpool star failing to recover from an injury. This is news that will cause Jurgen Klopp concern with Premier League action due to resume in seven days time.

As reported by LFCTR yesterday Jota had missed training with Portugal this week due to a muscle issue.

The 24 year old started in the huge Premier League clash at Anfield last Sunday when Liverpool drew 2-2 with Manchester City.

Despite leaving the pitch in the 68th minute to be replaced by Roberto Firmino, Jota did not appear to be in any obvious discomfort.

The fact that Liverpool allowed their forward to travel would also suggest that this was not an injury picked up last weekend.

Jota has started the season well for Liverpool scoring three goals in his six Premier League starts so far.

His presence has helped deal with the absence of the Brazilian Firmino who picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-1 clash versus Chelsea at the end of August.

Klopp and Reds fans will be hoping that this is just a precautionary measure and will be watching with interest to see whether Jota features in Portugal's World Cup Qualifier against Luxembourg on Tuesday.

Liverpool resume Premier League action next Saturday with a visit to Vicarage Road to face Watford in what will be the first game for Claudio Ranieri as manager.
