Callum McGregor was excellent in Scotland’s enthralling win over Israel earlier today. The 28-year-old central midfielder complemented John McGinn and Billy Gilmour in Steve Clarke’s midfield as the Scots masterminded a late 3-2 victory over their World Cup qualifying rivals.

McGregor praised the fans for their contribution to the win. An early goal from Zahavi could have dampened the spirits at Hampden had the support let their heads go down but they roared on as McGinn scored and Dabbur restored Israel’s lead. The visitors must’ve thought that the footballing powers were on their side as Lyndon Dykes missed a penalty near half time. The QPR forward netted early in the second half that was given after a lengthy review. Scott McTominay scored late to give the Scottish supporters a memorable win.

McGregor was excellent again, he will appreciate the game time after a spell out and just two games for Celtic in the last three weeks. Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that the captain can stay injury free for an important run of fixtures in which Celtic need to make a charge for the top of the league.
