CAMPUS — Whether it's a skateboard, a scooter, or a bike, the ultimate when you were a kid was to learn a "trick" to impress the other kids.
If you're like the person writing these words, you never got past a half-inch pop-a-wheelie on a bike. But if you had more guts and coordination, you may be doing kickflips and ollies on a skateboard to this day.
Then there is a young man named Nathan, who has a Razor scooter and a dream of defying gravity.
According to his friend Joe Zuccarro on Instagram, the idea to grind up a rail instead of down was a random idea Nathan came up with a few months ago. Then one day, it just came together.
Joe sat in a tree to film the stunt while his girlfriend towed Nathan toward a stair rail on the campus of University of California Irvine. And fwoop, up he goes.
It's massively impressive but it looks weirdly effortless.
The video description doesn't say how many attempts, falls, or fails took place before Nathan broke the rules of gravity. But Nathan's reaction afterward gives some indication.
First, there's the stillness of disbelief, followed by what looks like a few deep breaths, and finally, the calm removal of his shirt. Because everyone knows that when things get too intense, dudes have a tendency to remove their shirts.
If you don't think this is all that cool, just think about yourself on a scooter being towed by a car. I'm guessing most of us would fall and severely injure ourselves one second into the stunt.
