England cruised to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Andorra in Saturday night's World Cup 2022 qualifier, consolidating their place at the top of Group I.

The Three Lions took the lead on 18 minutes when Jadon Sancho raced onto a Phil Foden pass and cut the ball back for Ben Chilwell, who was waiting to smash home his first goal for his country. The referee's assistant initially disallowed the goal for an offside infringement, but VAR overturned the decision.

Bukayo Saka doubled the lead on 40 minutes, breaking the offside trap to control Foden's stunning ball over the top, and the Arsenal man rifled home, making no mistake.

England bagged a third on the hour mark, when Sancho curled a cross into the box, and Tammy Abraham nipped across his marker to poke the ball into the net with an outstretched toe.

Jack Grealish came on as a second half substitute and made an instant impact, earning a penalty which James Ward-Prowse initially missed, but the Southampton man slammed home the rebound to add a fourth for the Three Lions.

Grealish then bagged his first goal for England, latching onto Sam Johnstone's long throw, dancing between several challenges and slotting the ball inside the goalkeeper's near post. Southgate's men breezed to the final whistle, picking up another three points at the top of Group I.

Let's check out the player ratings.

ENGLAND

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Sam Johnstone (GK) - 7/10 - I genuinely think I could have got my first cap for England and kept a clean sheet tonight. Made a great save late on, but the flag was up anyway. Got an assist with quick thinking and an accurate throw.

Kieran Trippier (RB) - 7/10 - Captain on the night, and an experienced head in a team full of youth.

John Stones (CB) - 7/10 - Got involved in a confrontation with an Andorra player, and got booked for his troubles. No need to risk a suspension in games like these, John mate.

Conor Coady (CB) - 7/10 - Never shut up at the back - not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, really. Clearly feels comfortable in the England setup, which is great to see.

Ben Chilwell (LB) - 8/10 - Almost broke the deadlock with a misguided header, but finally got his maiden England goal with a ruthless finish from inside the box. Clinical.

2. Midfielders

Jesse Lingard (CM) - 7/10 - Busy in the midfield, bursting down the right channel and looking for the intricate ball inside to outfox a stubborn Andorra backline.

James Ward-Prowse (CM) - 7/10 - A dangerous weapon from set-pieces, almost scoring from his own in-swinging corner. Tried a repeat soon after - maybe stick it on a teammate's header, though. Missed the penalty, but alert to the rebound.

Phil Foden (CM) - 9/10 - A playmaker in the midfield. Pinged some outrageous diagonal balls to pick out teammates, including the delivery which set up the opener. Got the direct assist for Saka's strike and controlled the match - this is a special player.

3. Forwards

Bukayo Saka (RW) - 8/10 - Had to be fouled instead of tackled - they just couldn't get near him. Got his goal with great composure, drilling beyond the goalkeeper. Stunner.

Tammy Abraham (ST) - 7/10 - So up for it and ready to prove a point to Southgate. Had a chance with a powerful header and snatched at the rebound. Got his goal with predatory movement and an outstretched boot. You've got to be chuffed for him.

Jadon Sancho (LW) - 8/10 - Cut in and whipped some balls into the box, posing a constant threat for the full-back. Ran diagonally across the defence and set up Chilwell for his first ever England goal. Great assist. Lovely cross to assist Abraham, too. Integral.

4. Substitutes

Fikayo Tomori (CB) - 7/10

Jack Grealish (LW) - 8/10 - SUPER SUB! Direct running earned a penalty for the fourth, and tucked away England's fifth with a beautiful individual effort.

Mason Mount (CM) - 6/10

Ollie Watkins (ST) - N/A
