A potent jet stream disturbance that produced severe weather in the Plains overnight will combine with moisture from Pamela in the eastern Pacific to produce a threat of flooding rain in Texas.

Later Wednesday into Thursday is when there will be a threat of flooding rainfall along this storm system's trailing cold front in parts of Texas and southern Oklahoma. Moisture along this front will be enhanced by what will be the remnant of Hurricane Pamela in the Eastern Pacific.

Flash flood watches have been issued from parts of the Rio Grande Valley to southeast Oklahoma, including the Interstate 35 corridor from Dallas-Fort Worth to Austin and San Antonio. Rainfall totals could be 2 to 5 inches (locally higher) in some of these areas, with the heaviest rain expected late Wednesday into Thursday.

This weather system might also produce a few severe storms in the Midwest on Wednesday.
