Metroid Dread is out now for Nintendo Switch.

Metroid Dread takes place directly after Metroid Fusion, which released in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance. In Fusion, Samus got infected with the mysterious organism named the X Parasite. To fight this intruder, a vaccin was made of Metroid DNA, which made Samus not entirely human anymore. The Galactic Federation sends her to the planet ZDR to research the mysterious signal, but when she arrives, the E.M.M.I. robots are waiting.

The E.M.M.I. are a dangerous kind of robot of the Galactic Federation. Samus can't beat them face to face, so she will have to find special ways to outsmart them. In Dread, the organisation and Samus are on high alert. The story of Dread is a logical step after the end of Fusion, in which Samus didn't listen to the wishes of the Galactic Federation and destroys a project that was very special to them.

While it has been nineteen years since fans could enjoy a game in the Metroid series, the game is also perfect for new players. Nintendo knows that a big part of current Switch owners, didn't have the chance yet to play the original games. Especially for these new players, Metroid Dread has a prologue to show and tell them what they have missed.

In our review of Metroid Dread, we said the following: "A surprise sequel after nearly 20 years, Metroid Dread brings back the legendary exploration and progression and merges it with excellent modern combat and some of the best boss fights ever", and gave it a 9/10.
