The Buffalo Bills officially announced that the club has signed cornerback Taron Johnson to a three-year extension. The new contract will keep Johnson in Buffalo through the 2024 season. The details of the contract were released earlier in the day on Saturday from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. It is a considerable payday for Johnson, who gets a three-year deal at $24 million with $14 million in guarantees.

Despite missing the Bills’ Week 4 matchup with the Houston Texans, Johnson participated fully in practice this week. Johnson is now healthy for a key Sunday Night Football tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs, a contest with major implications on playoff seeding.

Johnson has solidified himself as Buffalo’s starting nickel cornerback, just a year after being benched in favor of Cam Lewis. Since that time, Johnson has shined on the national stage, with notable interceptions returned for touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. What a difference a year makes for Taron Johnson and his future with the Bills.
