Avalanche Wraps Up Preseason Against Dallas in Denver

The Colorado Avalanche faces the Dallas Stars in its the last game of the 2021-22 preseason at Ball Arena at 5 p.m.
The Avs dropped their last exhibition game 3-1 in Dallas versus the Stars. J.T. Compher scored in the contest while goaltender Darcy Kuemper made 26 saves.
Saturday's contest is the sixth and final preseason game of the year for Colorado. The team will then prepare to face the Chicago Blackhawks at home for opening night on Wednesday.

COLORADO-DALLAS CONNECTIONS

Valeri Nichushkin was selected 10th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars and played four seasons with the franchise before signing with the Avs in 2019… Avalanche forward Logan O'Connor was born in Missouri City, Texas... Stars forward Blake Comeau played for the Avalanche from 2015-2018… Dallas goaltender Ben Bishop was born in Denver.

HISTORY

The last time Colorado faced the Stars in the preseason was in 2019 and the Avs went 0-1-1 in those games. The clubs haven't played in the regular season since the 2019-20 season and the two teams have met five times in the playoffs since 1995, with Dallas winning three series. The Avs came out on top in the two of the three postseason matchups, winning four of the five games played in the best-of-seven series in 2004 and 2006.

ROSTER REPORT

The Avalanche announced five roster moves on Friday and now has 13 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders on its roster and will be starting a majority veteran lineup for Saturday's preseason contest against Dallas.

INJURY UPDATE

Goaltender Pavel Francouz left Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury and is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. Defenseman Cale Makar, who had been in a red, non-contact jersey since the start of training camp, was a full participant in Friday's practice and is anticipated to play Saturday's exhibition against Dallas. Blueliner Devon Toews (upper body) is expected to miss the beginning of the campaign while recovering from surgery. Head coach Jared Bednar will not be behind the bench on Saturday after a positive COVID-19 test.

NOTEBOOK

It is the second and final game between the Avs and Stars this preseason… Colorado also faced the Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights twice in exhibition play.
