Christian Pulisic set to return to Chelsea training — report

It’s been almost two months since Christian Pulisic last played for Chelsea, scoring in our opening match of the Premier League season, the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

He missed our next couple games due to a positive COVID-19 test, then picked up an ankle injury while away with the US Men’s National Team during the September international break. That was supposedly just a minor problem, yet it’s kept him out ever since.

Fortunately, according to Football.London’s Adam Newson, Pulisic, who celebrated his 23rd birthday recently, is set to return to training next week.

We’ve certainly missed Pulisic’s direct running and willingness to take on defenders, and that quality should mesh very nicely with new striker Romelu Lukaku up top. We’ve yet to see that combination in fact, due to the timing of Pulisic’s injuries, so hopefully we can rectify that soon.

Pulisic’s penchant for said injuries has been an increasingly concerning issue since his arrival. Hopefully, like Arjen Robben, he’ll grow out of them sooner rather than later.
