Rowney is likely to make the Opening Night roster as a spare forward for the Red Wings, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
The Wings signed Rowney to a one-year, $825,000 contract in September. While his projected role is far too scant to draw attention in fantasy hockey, there's a lot of "real-life value" with Rowney since he has NHL playoff experience (Pittsburgh - 2016-18) and a two-page hockey resume including service time in the AJHL, WCHA, ECHL and AHL.
