WATCH: Who should be the captains of the 2021-22 Boston Celtics?

With the news Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka will bring back not one but two captains for the team in the 2021-22 NBA season, the initial obvious choice would be the team’s two elder statesmen, Marcus Smart and Al Horford.

But could there be other candidates worth passing the baton from the Celtics greats of yore to a new batch of up-and-coming Boston players after a long pause from the practice under former head coach (and current president of basketball operations) Brad Stevens? And if so, who might they be and what would the logic behind such a move be built upon?

This question in particular was a major point of conversation on the most recent episode of the “Cedric Maxwell” podcast, featuring the eponymous host, his co-host Josue Pavon and special guest Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

Watch the clip embedded above to hear their views on who should get the “C” on their vests this coming season, as well as other pressing topics.
