National design-build firm Clayco, along with representatives from Hubbard Street Group, Shepley Bulfinch, local politicians and community groups recently grabbed headlines with the groundbreaking of a new 26-story residential tower, Skye on 6th, in Downtown Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row Arts District. Skye on 6th will contain 309 apartments, 6,500-square-feet of ground level retail space, and a 78,000-square-foot parking garage with 201 spaces. But there are 10 recently completed projects in Downtown Phoenix that have changed the city’s skyline. Here’s a look:

Downtown Phoenix projects include AC Hotel

The Arizona Center at 5th Street and Van Buren is now home to a new 200-key hotel. The completed project features business and leisure traveler amenities as well as a rooftop pool and lounge.

The Ryan sits across the street from Talking Stick Resort Arena and is in the heart of the Downtown Phoenix entertainment scene. The Ryan was developed by RED Development and is operated by StreetLights Residential.

The Ryan

RED Development and Streetlights Residential completed construction on this luxury residential tower in January 2020 as part of the Block23 block redevelopment. The project features 330 high-end units in the heart of downtown.

Block23

RED Development completed this transformative project in late 2019.  Block 23 is a live-work-play destination in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Its office tower and luxury apartments are conveniently placed above downtown’s only full-scale grocery store and Fox Restaurant Concept’s Blanco Tacos & Tequila. Block 23 is centrally located only steps away from downtown dining and entertainment venues at CityScape Phoenix, Talking Stick Arena, and Chase Field.

Phoenix Biomedical Campus (PBC) Innovation Center

Located adjacent to ASU’s downtown campus, the Phoenix Biomedical Campus (PBC) Innovation Center (225,000 sq ft) expands the downtown biomedical corridor to the northern edges of the urban core. Designed to integrate research, entrepreneurial activity, and corporate engagement, the building offers opportunities for meaningful collaboration with the building tenants and community. The PBC Innovation Center serves as a bridge between the surrounding neighborhoods, the academic community and the professional community.

The McKinley.

The McKinley

The McKinley, a roughly 153,500 sf development located on the NEC 3rd Avenue and McKinley Street recently completed construction, offering 108 luxury apartment units, amenity spaces, a leasing office and underground parking.

Footprint Center

The home of The Phoenix Suns, Rattlers and Phoenix Mercury has received a major refresh. The 27-year-old arena has transformed player and public amenities and modernized all facilities as part of a recent $230 million renovation project.

Phoenix Forge

Gateway Community College recently finished construction on Phoenix Forge, a community makerspace located at 6th Avenue and Van Buren. Open to the public, this unique center transformed a former warehouse into a 22,500 square-foot place for makers to create.

ASU Residence Hall and Entrepreneurship Center

ASU has completed construction on their newest dormitory and educational building downtown. This 16-story, 283,000 sq ft building has begun housing 532 upper division and graduate students for the Fall 2021 semester.

Kenect Phoenix

Located on the SE corner of Central and Polk, Kenect Phoenix is one of the Downtown Phoenix projects that has replaced a surface parking lot with a luxury 23-story apartment tower with ground floor retail. The new project features 320 rental units and a rooftop deck.
