The last single to be released off the EP prior to its release, “Right Way”, is a reflective piece on personal growth that caught the attention of general listeners, creating even more excitement about the EP’s release. All the while, the song pairs calming, otherworldly melodies with questions of self, and the search to find purpose and meaning in both professional and artistic ventures. Fortuno formed in 2018 in Southern Maine when band-mates Tobi and Ellis paired up with their former high school classmate, Eli, who had become renowned at USC as a jazz guitarist. Through hard work and perseverance, the trio made their way to Southern California and they never looked back. Their struggle and journey across country inspired much of the music on the EP, creating the nostalgic and contemplative soundscapes to evoke what they’ve felt during these formative years in their career. Produced by Ellis and Eli and featuring vocals by Tobi, Fortuno has attracted millions of listeners since their first steps onto the Los Angeles music scene. _Flaunt_ sat down with the trio to discuss the process of creating this debut EP and their plans for the future. How does it feel to finally release this project?** We’ve been working on this EP for the past two years so it feels really nice to finally share it with our fans. We want to keep the momentum going. We have lots of music in the vault and we’re really looking forward to releasing more. Stay tuned! **What are some of your biggest influences when it comes to music?** Acknowledgement undeniably feels great. We just want people to emotionally connect with our music so any recognition is appreciated because it creates a space for that to happen. We hope we can continue to gain traction in the industry. **Your work has grabbed the attention of some pretty big names in the industry, namely Lyrical Lemonade. What does it mean to you all to see your work get recognized like this?** Our biggest influences are each other. We are always learning and being pushed by one another to find that new sound, or come up with that new part. We get inspired by our the things each of us brings to a song. Outside of ourselves, we draw many inspirations from Frank Ocean, Bon Iver, and Fleet Foxes. **What’s next for Fortuno? What plans do you have for the future of the group?** We have a ton of unreleased music that we are super excited to get out there! We’re pretty focused on polishing everything so you all can hear it soon. We are also continuing to play shows around Los Angeles and look forward to collaborating with local artists.
