WWE SmackDown Results Oct 8: Edge wants Rollins inside Hell in a Cell!

WWE SmackDown results this week see’s the start of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown Tournaments. The Crown Jewel contract signing for the SmackDown Women’s Championship will also take place between Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. The episode will also mark the Season Premiere of SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown Results October 8 live from San Jose, California

The show begins with Bianca Belair already on her way down to the ring, with the contract signing already set-up with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville in the ring. Sasha Banks is already out and is introduced whilst standing on the announce table. The SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is also already out, and has her own table set-up on the entrance ramp. Becky initially talks and tears down Bianca and Sasha. Bianca calls for both ladies to get in the ring. Becky taunts her but Sasha sneaks up from behind Bianca and all three ladies brawl. The segment ends with Sasha laying on the contract signing table in the ring, and Becky delivering a K.O.D to Becky Lynch on top of Sasha through the table. No contract was signed, but the match was promoted for Crown Jewel straight after the segment.

Backstage, Rey Mysterio is interviewed with his son, Dominik. He is asked about the King of the Ring tournament. Mysterio faces Sami Zayn. Dominik says he is going to stay in gorilla and sit back and watch the match. Rey makes his entrance, but Sami Zayn approaches Dominik in gorilla and tells him he thinks Dominik is better than Rey before making his entrance.

Rey Mysterio vs. Sami Zayn – King of the Ring 1st round match

Midway through the match, Dominik Mysterio makes his way down to the ring when Sami Zayn appeared to be in control. The BT Sport UK feed cut out during this match and eventually returned after a minute or so. Late in the match, Sami Zayn exposes one of the top turnbuckles, as Dominik tries to put it back on doing the right thing. During this whole incident, Sami Zayn manages to roll up Rey Mysterio pick up the win. Zayn will now face either Finn Balor or Cesaro next week.

Winner: Sami Zayn

A video promo is shown highlighting Hit Row who will be coming to SmackDown soon. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee take a look at the new Smackdown roster that will come into effect from Oct 22.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton conducts an interview with Seth Rollins following his actions last week turning up to Edge’s home. Rollins is frustrated that Edge hasn’t answered him and says he’s the better man. Rollins goes off to find someone with power to do something about it.

Zelina Vega vs. Toni Storm – Queen’s Crown tournament 1st round match

The match got a few minutes. Zelina Vega delivered her sunset flip finisher to pin Toni Storm to advance to the next round of the Queen’s Crown tournament. She will face either Liv Morgan or Carmella in the next round.

Winner: Zelina Vega

A recap is shown of the Paul Heyman/Roman Reigns/Brock Lesnar saga from the last few weeks.

Universal Champion, Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champion, The Uso’s, make their way to the ring with Paul Heyman by their side. San Jose acknowledges the Tribal Chief. Reigns then gets the San Jose to acknowledge Paul Heyman for getting his job done for making sure The Uso’s remain on SmackDown. Reigns wants Heyman to come clean about Brock Lesnar’s free agency. Heyman tries to explain himself but Reigns wants Paul to talk down the camera to tell Brock Lesnar. Heyman explains down to the camera that Roman Reigns will defeat Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel. Paul pledges his allegiance to the Tribal Chief. That’s not a prediction, that’s a spoiler.

Backstage, Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce are talking when Seth Rollins comes into their office. Rollins asks if Edge is here tonight. Rollins says he will go the ring later to get his answer from Edge and if he doesn’t things will get ugly. Rollins tells Deville and Pearce that if they see Edge to return a photo that Rollins took from Edge’s house last week.

Carmella vs. Liv Morgan – Queen’s Crown tournament 1st round match

Before the match begins, Carmella exits the ring to put on her sparkling protective face mask. The match is given only a minute or so just like the earlier Queen’s Crown match. Carmella delivers a superkick to Liv Morgan to pick up the win and she will face Zelina Vega in the next round.

Winner: Carmella

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews MACE. MACE says he doesn’t see anyone in the SmackDown locker room that matches him. All he see’s is prey. MACE says he’s coming to SmackDown to annihilate.

Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss make their way to the ring. Happy Talk returns with guests The Street Profits. Corbin says he’s the happiest man in the world. Madcap Moss tells a joke which has him and Corbin in hysterics. Kevin Owens music then hits and he marches his way down to the ring to fight both men. Corbin and Moss beat down Owens and leave him laying in the ring as they continue to laugh.

Backstage, Naomi speaks with Sonya and Adam Pearce about why she isn’t in the Queen’s Crown tournament. Naomi wants Adam to trade her to Raw. Sonya reveals that Naomi isn’t done on SmackDown and that she will face Naomi next week.

Finn Balor vs. Cesaro – King of the Ring 1st round match

Balor delivers Coup de Grace to pick up the win against Cesaro. We haven’t seen Cesaro for a few weeks. Balor will now face Sami Zayn next week with the winner advancing to the final at WWE Crown Jewel. Sami isn’t eligible for the Saudi shows, so the odds are already in the favour of Finn Balor.

Winner: Finn Balor

Backstage, SmackDown Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, is with Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce backstage. Lynch is complaining about the Triple Threat match scheduled for Crown Jewel. Becky signs the contract in the end and then throws it towards Pearce’s lower region.

It is revealed that Brock Lesnar returns next week on SmackDown, plus the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournament continues. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks will main event in what is being dubbed ‘Supersize SmackDown‘.

Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring. Rollins immediately calls out Edge to answer his challenge. Rollins says they can have any match, anywhere, even in his living room. He doesn’t mind. Rollins laughs and says he ended Edge with one stomp in Madison Square Garden. He says that if Edge doesn’t appear then he will take that as an admission that Rollins is not Edge-lite and that Rollins is better than him in every way. Rollins says it must break Edge’s children’s hearts to know their father is a coward. Edge is then shown making his way to the ring. He’s shown up! Edge spears Rollins immediately and they brawl around the ringside area. Edge breaks a steel chair and takes the steal rod, but Rollins escapes. Edge then grabs a microphone and says “Me. You. Hell in a Cell!” as Rollins now looks extremely concerned.
