Anthony Mantha, Tom Wilson and Nic Dowd each scored a third-period goal to help the Washington Capitals defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 in their preseason finale at Capital One Arena in Washington on Friday.

Wilson at 2:27 and Mantha at 4:02 gave Washington the lead, and Dowd scored into an empty net.
The Capitals played the final two periods without forward Alex Ovechkin, who sustained a lower-body injury in the first period.
Cam Atkinson scored twice to give Philadelphia a 3-2 lead in the second period. Claude Giroux scored, and Martin Jones made 28 saves for the Flyers, who open the regular season Friday against the Vancouver Canucks.
Ilya Samsonov made 22 saves for the Capitals, who begin the regular season against the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

Blues 7, Blue Jackets 3: Seven players scored for the St. Louis Blues in their preseason finale, a 7-3 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Friday.
Robert Bortuzzo had a goal and two assists, and David Perron and Jake Walman each had a goal and an assist for St. Louis. Vladimir Tarasenko, James Neal, Jordan Kyrou and Tyler Bozak scored, and Jordan Binnington made 17 saves.
Emil Bemstrom scored twice, Brendan Gaunce scored, and Gregory Hoffman had two assists for Columbus. Joonas Korpisalo made 22 saves.
The Blues open the regular season at the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 16.
The Blue Jackets play their preseason finale at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Flames 3, Jets 1: Rasmus Andersson had three assists for the Calgary Flames in a 3-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets in the preseason finale for each team at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Friday.
Sean Monahan scored his first goal of the preseason, Johnny Gaudreau had two assists, and Jacob Markstrom made 22 saves for Calgary.
Logan Stanley scored, and Connor Hellebuyck made 20 saves for Winnipeg.
The Flames open the regular season Oct. 16 at the Edmonton Oilers. The Jets play at the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.
