The Green River Lady Pirate volleyball squad have been road warriors with two of their last three being away from their home gym. On Thursday they returned home and welcomed the Monticello Buckaroos to town. The Pirates ended the evening on the wrong end of a straight set loss dropping their third straight.

All three sets were highly competitive with Monticello grabbing the first set win 25-22. Set two was a hard fought battle as well going to the Buckaroos 25-23 and the final set was 25-19 to end the Pirates night. This would be the second time the two teams faced off with the result being the same, a straight set loss for Green River.

The Pirates have dropped three of their last five putting their overall record at 9-8 and placing them at the No. 9 Spot in the 1A RPI. The ranking will be used to set the seeds for the State Championship Tournament which will begin on Oct.23.

Green River still has two contests left on their schedule both on the road.

First up, they head to Monument Valley on Tuesday, who they just defeated in straight sets on Sept. 25.

They then end the regular season on Thursday when they travel to Price to face the Pinnacle Panthers. Back on Aug. 31 the two teams met up in Green River with the Pirates claiming the straight set victory.
