The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys will face off in a classic divisional matchup. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Giants-Cowboys prediction and pick based on Giants Cowboys odds.

Every division is up in the air this early in the season, but this is a crucial game for the Giants if they want to hang around in the NFC East. New York has already fallen to 1-3 on the season and another loss, especially one to an opponent in the division, will essentially put their playoff hopes to bed before midseason. Dallas, on the other hand, is clearly the best team in the division. They own a 3-1 record and their only loss came at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys are a huge favorite to win the East, and another victory here will only strengthen their chances.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the lines for Sunday's matchup.

NFL Odds: Giants-Cowboys Odds

New York Giants +7 (-112)

Dallas Cowboys -7 (-108)

Over 52 1/2 points (-115)

Under 52 1/2 points (-105)

Why The Giants Could Cover The Spread

All eyes were on New York's offense at the start of the season, but this defense is clearly a far superior unit. They've only allowed one opposing quarterback to surpass 275 yards passing and only one 100-yard receiving day to any opposing pass-catcher. While they haven't been great rushing the passer, the Giants have shown that they are capable of playing solid defense at the very least. If the offense can stay alive and give them some decent field position to work with, New York's defenders may be able to give the Cowboys more trouble than anticipated. Keep this in mind when making a Giants Cowboys pick.

It hasn't been acknowledged by much of the media, but quarterback Daniel Jones has been pretty solid. He's been efficient with the football and has added a dangerous element to New York's rushing attack. Dallas has been horrible defending against opposing passing games, as they've allowed a 300-yard passing game to every quarterback they've faced this season. The Cowboys have also allowed a 100-yard receiver four times this season. Jones should have no trouble moving the ball through the air in this one.

Why The Cowboys Could Cover The Spread

Dallas has an undeniably terrible pass defense but they manage to stay in games because of just how good their offense is. Quarterback Dak Prescott has been nothing short of fantastic, and wide receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb are two of the best pass-catchers in the league. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has seemingly hit his stride after two great games on the ground. The offensive line is playing well in both the pass and the run game. It's hard to believe that this Giants defense that gave up 30 points to the Washington Football Team will have what it takes to slow down a top-three offense in the NFL. This is why the Giants Cowboys odds are what they are.

The Cowboys also have the huge advantage of health in this matchup. The Giants are missing safety Jabrill Peppers, wide receiver Darius Slayton, and receiver Sterling Shepard in this game, along with a handful of starters who are already on injured reserve. New York will have a tough time keeping up with this offense when they're missing two starting pass-catchers, and they'll have a hard time on defense when they're missing their best safety. This is part of the calculus in the NFL odds for this game.

Final Giants-Cowboys Prediction & Pick

This is a fairly simple pick. Dallas is playing at home and the bookmakers have only made them a touchdown favorite. Lock in the Cowboys with confidence.

FINAL PICK: Dallas Cowboys -7 (-108)
