Warriors' Stephen Curry on Lakers' LeBron James: 'He set the standard'

Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry and fellow all-time great LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers are no strangers to each other. Curry and his Warriors competed against James in the NBA Finals every year from 2015 through 2018 when the four-time champion was completing his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and those matchups produced multiple memorable highlights and some GIF-worthy moments:

The two on-the-court foes now share a conference, and Curry was asked Friday ahead of a preseason contest between the Warriors and Lakers what it's been like to face James on the sport's biggest stages for so long.

"He set the standard for that," Curry said of James' longevity, per Nick Friedell of ESPN. "Let's keep it real -- what is he, in his 18th year? Nine straight Finals, all the things that he's accomplished. You have a vision of sustaining your prime for as long as you can, kind of reimagining what that looks like. So you know the work that goes into it, the intentionality, especially in the offseasons, especially how you take care of your body, your mind. Balance on court, off court."

James turns 37 years old in December but showed last season he can still perform at a level worthy of Most Valuable Player votes as long as his body and ankle don't betray him. Father Time catches up with every athlete, however, so the question must be asked:

Will Curry and James ever team up to pursue at least one NBA title together before all is said and done?
