Ryan Reaves in your lineup for the team's first game of the season, which happens to be against the Washington Capitals. Reaves was brought in during the offseason to make the Rangers tougher to play against, and the heated rivalry with the Caps and
Tom Wilson will probably be on full display when the two teams meet in Washington on the 13th of October. According to head coach Gerard Gallant, Rangers fans may get their wish.
Reaves took a brutal looking fall earlier this week in a game against the New Jersey Devils when he got tangled up along the boards with PK Subban. One of his legs bended in a way that legs aren't supposed to bend, and he had to be helped off the ice. Here's the play:
While it looked awful, Gallant said after the game that he didn't think the injury was too serious. Asked Friday whether Reaves would be ready for the team's season opener against the Caps next Wednesday, Gallant responded "It's going to be close."

That's excellent news for Reaves as the injury could have been much, much worse. The game between the Rangers and Caps on the 13th should be an entertaining one whether Reaves is in the lineup or not.
