(670 The Score) Blackhawks defenseman Caleb Jones is expected to miss six weeks with a left wrist sprain, the team said Friday.

If Jones returns on that timeline, he’ll miss the first 16 games of the regular season. The Blackhawks acquired Jones in July in a trade that sent veteran defenseman Duncan Keith to the Edmonton Oilers.

Jones had four points (zero goals, four assists) in 33 games for Edmonton last season. The Oilers selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Draft. He has played three NHL seasons.

In other news Friday, the Blackhawks reassigned 18-year-old defenseman Nolan Allan and 18-year-old forward Colton Dach to their junior teams in the Western Hockey League. Allan will play for the Prince Albert Raiders, while Dach plays for the Kelowna Rockets. The Blackhawks selected Allan in the first round of the NHL Draft in July and Dach in the second round.

Chicago also reassigned forward Evan Barratt and forward Dmitri Osipov to the AHL Rockford Icehogs.
