Chicago White Sox first baseman Gavin Sheets is not in the starting lineup for ALDS Game 2 on Friday afternoon against left-hander Framber Valdez and the Houston Astros.
Sheets started on first base in Game 1 against Astros right-hander Lance McCullers and went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. Jose Abreu is shifting to first base on Friday afternoon in place of Sheets while Andrew Vaughn enters the lineup to bat seventh as the White Sox's designated hitter.

Valdez has an elite 70.3% ground-ball rate, but the southpaw also has the worst strikeout rate (21.9%) and walk rate (10.1%) of the slate.
