Tilers Decide to Rebuild Woman's Bathroom for Free After Seeing Viral Video of Destruction

Amber Trucke went viral in September when she shared footage of her contractors destroying her bathroom over a pay dispute. Now, local contractors have stepped in and are rebuilding it all free of charge.

Trucke had reportedly paid contractors from Dream Home Remodels of Colorado $3,330 of a $7,555 bill, but said she wanted to fully inspect the work before handing over the rest, after finding herself unhappy with the outcome so far.

As shown in the now-viral video, Terry Gregory and Jordan Cazares, believing their payment was being withheld, attended the house and destroyed the bathroom work with a hammer.

One month later and local contractors have stepped in to fix up the bathroom, completely free of charge for Trucke, as reported by KRDO.

Tile installer Jason McDaniel, from Portland, Oregon, has decided to partner with local Colorado contractors, Jeremy Johnson, Matt Coppo and Steve Sells, to do the work.

"This was just that perfect opportunity to do something amazing with other amazing local tile contractors," McDaniels told KRDO.

"I kind of thought somebody in Colorado Springs might call me and say, 'Hey, you know I can do this at a discount since you've already paid some money. Let's work something out," Trucke said. "I didn't think I was going to have my phone blowing up and people from all over the country offering to just stop what they're doing in their daily lives and come fix my bathroom."

The team of contractors plans to use donated materials and labor to rebuild the bathroom for Trucke.

"I'm getting messages from Ireland, Norway, Czech Republic, South Africa and Poland," Trucke told KRDO.

"I just thought it was incredible that these strangers that I didn't know were willing to band together to fix this, without me even asking them, I hadn't even talked to them yet, and they were already planning on how to fix my shower."

McDaniels' offer to replace the bathroom, disputed the prediction made by original contractor Gregory in the viral video, in which he claimed: "No contractor in the state of Colorado will fix that when they find out that I took it back because she refused to pay me."

After the video spread internationally, Cazares denied Trucke's version of events and sent the following statement to KRDO: "After several weeks of work for a customer, communication broke down at the end of a project. There was no displeasure expressed, and we proceeded to ask for payment on the project by the end of the day. Communication broke further after that and resulted in our company repossessing a tile shower. We regret that this contract went sour. It has never happened before and is not something that is made regular practice. There were several other projects included in the contract that she is also unwilling to pay for, including a vanity, mirror, light fixture, 2 ceiling fans, plumbing work, fixing rotten framing in her walls, and an exterior door replacement."

Trucke however insisted that she did pay for the listed work.
