Meet the Mets

After deciding not to pick up Luis Rojas’s option for the 2022 season, the Mets informed a majority of their coaches that they are free to seek jobs elsewhere in baseball.

The team dismissed assistant hitting coach Kevin Howard from the big league club though are still in talks with hitting coach Hugh Quattlebaum, while maintaining the possibility of retaining pitching coach Jeremy Hefner.

Some believe the Mets will propose a qualifying offer to Michael Conforto, who many expect will reject the offer.

Acting GM Zack Scott’s hearing for his DWI case was adjourned with a trial date set for December 8th. He is currently on administrative leave.

The Mets sent Brandon Drury down to triple-A Syracuse.

Robinson Canó plans to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic this offseason.

Former Mets manager Mickey Callaway will coach the Mexican League’s Acereros de Monclova this Winter.

Around the National League East

Talking Chop examined some potential roster moves the Braves could make ahead of their series against the Brewers, which begins tonight at 4:30.

Around Major League Baseball

Both American League Division Series began yesterday. The Astros started it off with a comfortable 6-1 win over the White Sox in Houston to go up 1-0 in the series, and then the Rays followed it with a 5-0 victory against the Red Sox in St. Pete to take a 1-0 series lead.

The legend of Randy Arozarena grew as he became the first player in MLB history to hit a home run and steal home in a postseason game.

The Astros leaned heavily on Lance McCullers’s gem to take Game 1 from the White Sox.

Astros owner Jim Crane said the team would likely extend a qualifying offer to Justin Verlander, though he wasn’t so decisive when asked about Carlos Correa.
