Titans vs. Jaguars predictions: NFL experts make Week 5 picks

The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars will meet in Week 5 at TIAA Bank Field for what is the first of two games between these division rivals this season.

Both teams come into this game off a loss. The Titans had a letdown defeat at the hands of the previously winless New York Jets, 27-24 in overtime, while the Jaguars took a loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, 24-21.

Both teams are also in the midst of streaks they’d like to end.

The Titans are 0-4 against rookie quarterbacks in the Mike Vrabel era, and the Jags, a team that sports a rookie quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, are trying to avoid becoming the third team in NFL history to lose 20 straight.

Over the last four years, Tennessee has no doubt had Jacksonville’s number, as the Titans have won seven of their last eight meetings with the Jaguars.

While Las Vegas has the Titans favored, do NFL experts from different media outlets see things the same way? Let’s take a look.

CBS Sports’ Week 5 picks

Pete Prisco – Titans 23, Jaguars 17: “The Titans have won seven of eight in this rivalry and Derrick Henry has dominated the series. He has nine touchdowns in the past three seasons with two 200-yard plus rushing games in that time. The Jaguars have been OK against the run, but not here. Henry will continue running over them as the Titans get back on track after the loss to the Jets.”

Sporting News’ Week 5 picks

Vinnie Iyer – Titans 27, Jaguars 21: “The Titans did not play well against the Jets with Derrick Henry being their only source of offense, which further exposed all their pass defense issues. After the big road upset in New York, Tennessee won’t let that happen again in Jacksonville. Mike Vrabel will get his team back on track while Urban Meyer, dealing with some trouble personal developments, will struggle to inspire his team the same way. Take advantage of the low early number as the Titans are certain to rebound and the Jaguars will be still hungover from blowing a big lead in Week 4.”

Bill Bender – Titans 30, Jaguars 26: “The Jaguars are still looking for that first victory under first-year coach Urban Meyer, and Tennessee proved vulnerable without starting receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones in Week 5. The bad news for Meyer? Mike Vrabel will feed Derrick Henry early, and the Jacksonville pass defense will be exploited once more.”
