Men’s Tennis: Titans Shut Out Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster men's tennis team shut out Geneva in a non-conference contest on the road Thursday night.

First-year Ellian Ascencio won No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, over Jacques Guillembet. Junior Jimmy Oberlin (DuBois, PA / DuBois) (4-6, 6-4, 10-5) and first-year Ethan Bowden (6-4, 7-6 (7-4)) fought to the finish in their respective matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Ascencio and Oberlin teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

The shutout was the Titans' first over the Golden Tornados in more than five years.

Westminster improved to 1-1 on the season, while Geneva dropped to 0-2.

The Titans will next play at Marietta on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
