From the Right: Gen. Milley, if not treason, what then?

As I watched the congressional hearings on the loss of Afghanistan, I was completely stunned by the testimony of Gen. Milley, Gen. “Frank” McKenzie, commander of U.S. Central Command, and Department of Defense leader Gen. Lloyd J. Austin.

Milley, in an interview with journalist Bob Woodward, not only talked when he never should have uttered a word, but what he did have to say, if not treason, I don't know what you would label his utterances.

Milley made two phone calls to his Chinese counterpart, Gen. Li Zauchenge of the People's Liberation Army. In an act of total insubordination, Milley, on Oct. 30, 2020, four days before the November elections, assured the Chinese that President Trump was not going to attack China. What was insane about Milley's calls was the fact that Trump was very proud that another military conflict had not been started on his watch.

Did Milley seriously think Trump was going to start a thermo-nuclear war based on no provocation? Milley was a Trump-hating egomaniac who talked to four Trump-hating sources with a concocted falsehood that made him feel self-important.

On Milley's second call, on Jan. 8, to Li, Milley allegedly stated: "You and I have known each other for five years. If we're going to attack, I'm going to call you ahead of time. It's not going to be a surprise." He has not denied this statement.

At this point I would like for you to share in an exercise with me. Let's reverse the roles of Milley and Li. Now, Li picks up the phone and calls Milley, assuring him that China is not going to attack the U.S. but if they were he would give Milley a heads up. Li, like Milley, does not convey his calls in advance to his top leaders. Li also does not reveal his calls in advance to China's Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping. Five minutes after Xi learned of the treachery of Li, how long do you think he'd still be alive? Most likely a very quick execution! Treason is treason.

Watching our three generals describe losing Afghanistan without a shot being fired was a low point in my love and understanding of our U.S. military leadership. My early boyhood military idols of Eisenhower, MacArthur, Patton and Bradley have long since disappeared. Now we have a defense secretary who seems to come from central casting. Impressive in stature and voice of command, I'm totally bewildered why Austin would tolerate for one second Milley contacting the Chinese military without discussing his intentions with Trump first.

In case you forgot, Milley accompanied Trump to see the results of the fire set at the St. John's Episcopal Church in Lafayette Square. The almighty, pompous Milley later apologized for appearing with the president as it made it appear the military was political. If you can keep a straight face after that whopper, you've got more self control than I possess. This is the non-political Milley who talked to every Trump-hating venue he could find and, as he claimed he could not discuss his conversations with President Biden, he was a motor mouth on steroids when it came to Trump.

Losing Afghanistan the way we did was the worst presidential decision in my lifetime. To then watch our three military leaders testify that they all urged Biden to leave 2,500 troops behind was an effort to cover their own rear ends for such a monumental disaster.

Milley acknowledged he was willing to commit treason under Trump and warn the Chinese military over a non-existent threat. To further compound Milley's willingness to commit treason, our current president, Biden, sees nothing wrong in his remarks. I guess if you hate Trump enough you can justify any actions, even treason!
