INDEPENDENCE TWP. — Freddy's Haunts brings steady scares, though a special fright and fun awaits visitors of Beaver County's longest-running haunt on Oct. 23.

Once Freddy's gates creak open at 7:30 that evening, guests will find themselves face-to-face with the cast and crew of "Waltz," an indie horror film.

"We'll be there pretty much the whole evening," said "Waltz" director Joshua D. Maley. "We will have a screen set up where guests will be able to watch one of the scenes from the film that we shot inside of Freddy's. And the Hatter — the villain of the film — will be roaming the grounds to scare guests and take photos."

Sounds like a ghoulishly good time, not to mention a clever way to publicize the locally made film, with stars Hannah Keeley, David Dietz and Hattie Baier in attendance.

"The cast and crew is excited to share a first-look at the film at the place where we spent well over half of the entire filming process," Maley said.

They'll mingle with visitors by Freddy's bonfire, and showcase the very first clips from the film.

Maley deeply appreciates Freddy's owner Fred Porebski letting the film crew build sets and make use of the iconic haunt for three weeks during a very busy time.

"Being an Aliquippa native, it meant a lot to be able to shoot so much of the movie here," Maley said.

Along with that Halloween haunted house, tucked among woods at 192 McCune Road, "Waltz" also used The Fallout Shelter lounge in Aliquippa and a private residence on Carroll Street in Aliquippa for filming.
