Men's Tennis Travels To Clemson Invite

October 07, 2021 | Men's Tennis

CLEMSON, S.C. – Mississippi State's women won't be the only tennis team invading the Palmetto State this week.

Matt Roberts and most of the men's tennis squad is heading to the state of South Carolina for the Clemson Invite this weekend. The Bulldogs will play in a round robin style tournament against players from Clemson, Indiana and Liberty at the event.

"This weekend will be great competition for our guys," Roberts said. "Clemson is building a strong program with new coaches. One of our former players (Trevor) Foshey is at Liberty as the assistant coach and Indiana is always a strong team. We look forward to building each player's resilience and fortitude with each day's competition."

Alberto Colas, Carles Hernandez, Gregor Ramskogler, Seth Richey and Davide Tortora will represent MSU at the Clemson Invite. Florian Broska and Nemanja Malesevic are both competing at the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla., this week.

The Bulldogs start things off against players from Clemson on Friday at 2 p.m. CT. State will square off against Liberty on Saturday at 9 a.m. and wrap up their weekend against Indiana at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

It will be the second straight weekend that the Bulldogs have had a hidden dual tournament. They hosted the MSU Bulldog Invitational last weekend against Alabama, Michigan, Tulane and Wichita State and posted a 19-8 overall record (13-5 singles, 6-3 doubles).
