‘Rigoletto al Circo Massimo’ to be Premiere at Rome Film Festival

The Rome Film Festival is set to present three evenings dedicated to the opera.

On Oct. 20, the festival will showcase the documentary “Rigoletto al Circo Massimo” by Indigo Film, Rai Cinema, and MIC-Direzione Generale Cinema. This represents esteemed opera director Damiano Michieletto’s cinema debut. The film features the musical direction of Daniele Gatti and a cast that includes Roberto Frontali, Rosa Feola, Ivan Ayon Rivas, Riccardo Zanellato, Martina Belli, and Gabriele Sagona. 

That same evening, “Nascita di uno spettacolo” by Enrico Parenti and produced by Indigo Film in collaboration with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, will be presented. The film recounts the making of the opera during the pandemic.

The second evening on Oct. 21 will be dedicated to “In questa storia che è la mia.” The opera-concerto was filmed in 2021 at the Teatro dell’Opera. The work is written by Claudio Baglioni.

The last evening on Oct. 23, will showcase the public will get to live the filmed versions of “La Traviata” starring Lisette Oropesa and “il Barbiere di Siviglia.” Both films were directed by Mario Martone.

The Rome Film Festival is set to open on Oct. 14 and is set to present “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Belfast,” as well as Marvel’s “Eternals” directed by Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao.
