Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert announced the new city attorney on Thursday.
Matt Kuhse who has been serving as the interim city attorney since December of 2020 will now fill the position permanently, according to a press release from the mayor's office.
He took over after Paul Kratz retired, said the press release.
Kuhse's resume includes more than 20 years in legal and management positions, 15 years as the Douglas County Attorney, and six years as a deputy city attorney and city prosecutor, said the press release.
"Matt has demonstrated excellent ability over the last ten months," said Stothert. "He will lead our team of skilled an dedicated attorneys and legal staff with experience, trusted relationships, and respect. I trust Matt's opinion and counsel, and I look forward to working together."
Kuhse expressed how "honored" he was to be picked to fill the position and how "excited" he is for this new page in his career.
