For the premiere of Grey’s Anatomy season 18, someone from Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo)’s past, indeed, returned — it just wasn’t who anyone was expecting. That said, fans of the hit ABC medical drama welcomed back Dr. Nick Marsh, played by actor Scott Speedman, with open arms, collectively agreeing he never finished what he started.
Grey’s first introduced the traveling transplant surgeon towards the end of season 14 in March of 2018. Although he only appeared in one episode as a guest star, folks quickly took an interest in him after Meredith confessed that he made her feel things she hadn’t felt since Derek Shephard (Patrick Dempsey)’s death. Now, the two meet again and their chemistry is still very much there.
After seeing Scott’s character return to the Thursday night series, fans naturally went in search of him on social media and found his Instagram. In his latest post, he happily poses with his dog at the top of Mount Baldy in California. Viewers took this opportunity to share kind and supportive messages with Scott about coming on full time as a series regular.
“Welcome back to Grey’s 😍❤️,” one person wrote. “I love having you back in Grey’s and I hope Nicks gets his chance with Meredith 😍💙✨,” another added. “You literally did 2 episodes so far and your character already conquered my heart to the fullest!!!” a different fan said. “I’m sooooo excited you’re back on Grey’s! Your character is literally perfect for Meredith!! 😍😍😍😍,” a follower commented.
As fans know, in the premiere, Nick and Meredith briefly crossed paths in a Minnesota restaurant. Despite thinking he may not have seen her, Nick later found Meredith at her hotel. Over drinks, the two caught up on Nick’s niece and Meredith’s recent battle with COVID-19. But almost immediately, she had her guard up and kept Nick at arm’s length, repeatedly telling him that nothing was going to happen between them.
In the end, he walked her to her room and that seemed to be that ... but Meredith is about to find out that Nick is full of surprises. We can’t wait to see what happens next!
