County: Fewer active COVID cases

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the county continues to drop, as evidenced by the latest update issued Thursday afternoon by Hood County Emergency Management Coordinator Jay Webster.

When Webster emailed his report to the HCN at about 1:30 p.m., there were 340 active cases compared to 445 last week and 647 the week before that.

Eighteen COVID-19 positive patients were hospitalized locally.

The county experienced eight additional COVID-19 positive deaths since Webster’s previous update on Sept. 30. The total number of deaths for the county stands at 184, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

All ICU beds at Lake Granbury Medical Center remain in use, with 66.67% of those beds occupied by patients who are COVID-19 positive.

The number of overall patients at LGMC that are COVID-19 positive is declining. Currently 24.4% of the hospital’s capacity is COVID-19 positive.

Regionally, there are 58 adult ICU beds available and eight pediatric ICU beds available.

Hood County remains at high risk of COVID-19 transmission.
