What's Up, Doc? is a weekly health segment on WROK sponsored by MercyHealth. Each week they highlight a different doctor/healthcare professional to come on our show and talk to us about their specialty. It has turned into one of our favorite segments. All of our doctors have exhibited a "human" side that people don't always get to see with their physicians. We encourage you to check out some of our past episodes here. We've done about 30 of these segments highlighting everything from Lyme disease to hernia repair to finding a health care plan and everything else in between. We've learned a lot and hope you can too.

This week's guest was Dr. David Shoberg. Dr. Shoberg is a pediatric pulmonary specialist that has worked in Rockford for over 20 years. Dr. Shoberg, like many of our guests on What's Up, Doc?, was a natural and easy talking guest. You could tell just by the subtle confidence in his voice that he knew what he was talking about.

We talked to Dr. Shoberg about what kind of ailments he sees in his office (a lot of asthma patients) and what kind of outside influences could lead to pulmonary problems in children.

We also had to ask him about the effects that he's seen COVID have on young lungs. Dr. Shoberg said that it is his and his office's opinion that COVID doesn't seem to be affecting the lungs of young people anywhere nearly as bad as they've seen in adults.

We thank Dr. Shoberg for his time and look forward to the next time we can have him on.

A new episode of What's Up, Doc? airs every Thursday morning at 8:35 on 1440 WROK.
