Liberty University will retire the jersey of one of the Flames all-time greats during Homecoming weekend Saturday.
The No. 23 jersey of former All-American and NFL running back Rashad Jennings will be retired during the Flames' 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Jennings will be the 5th person to have their jersey retired by Liberty Athletics.
Jennings was originally supposed to have his jersey retired in the 2020 season, but the ceremony was delayed, due to no fans being allowed in for games.
During his time at Liberty, Jennings rushed for 3,633 yards from 2006 to 2008 and set program records for career rushing touchdowns with 42, 100-yard games with 22 and points scored with 278.
He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008 and went on to play for the Jaguars, the Oakland Raiders and the New York Giants over the course of his career.
Jennings was additionally honored in 2018 by the Flames, as Liberty inducted him into their Hall of Fame.
