Actor John Lithgow makes a special guest appearance Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. on Bookish, the virtual program about books and authors produced by the Southern California News Group.

Hosted by NPR commentator and performer Sandra Tsing Loh, this episode of Bookish also features Mary Roach, bestselling author of “Fuzz,” “Stiff” and “Packing for Mars,” among others. Also, Alice Hoffman, author of “Practical Magic,” will discuss her new work, “The Book of Magic,” and Twisted Sister cofounder and guitarist Jay Jay French has the scoop on “Twisted Business,” his guide to financial success.

Lithgow will be talking about his third book of satirical poetry, “A Confederacy of Dumptys: Portraits of American Scoundrels in Verse.” As well as his renowned acting roles – Lithgow has garnered two Tonys, six Emmys, two Golden Globes, and two Oscar nominations in a career that spans decades – he has authored nine children’s picture books in addition to his satirical poetry.
