The long-delayed “No Time to Die,” Daniel Craig’s fifth and final James Bond outing, is finally here. The movie was delayed by the pandemic, but we’re all the more happy to embrace this humanized version of Ian Fleming’s secret agent, previously played as a bit of a brute by Sean Connery and as a playboy by Roger Moore and more. This time, 007 is retired from active service and living a quiet life in Jamaica when his friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) of the CIA asks for help. His mission: to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Rami Malek plays the baddie, Safin; Léa Seydoux plays James’ lady love, Madeleine Swann, daughter of a Spectre assassin; Ralph Fiennes returns as M, Naomie Harris is Moneypenny, and Lashana Lynch plays a fellow MI6 agent. Rated PG-13, it’s in theaters only, starting Oct. 8.

Also new:

• “Acapulco”: Eugenio Derbez and Enrique Arrizon star in this new bilingual sitcom set at a Mexican vacation resort in 1984. It premieres on Oct. 8 on Apple TV+

• “Lamb”: A childless couple in rural Iceland discover an unnatural newborn in their sheep barn and decide to raise it as their own. Starring Noomi Rapace and Hilmir Snaer Gudnason, it’s rated R, in theaters, Oct. 8.

• “God’s Not Dead: We the People”: In the latest of the “God’s Not Dead” series, the Rev. Dave Hill defends a group of Christian home-schooling families after they receive an inspection from a progressive, local government official. Hill travels to Washington, D.C., to testify in a congressional hearing that will determine the future of religious freedom. Rated PG, in theaters Oct. 4.

• “Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle”: In this anime movie, debuting Oct. 8 on Netflix, Koko grows up in the jungle with a solitary Zarude. When he meets Ash and Pikachu, he discovers the human world — and a plot threatening his home.

• “South of Heaven”: Jason Sudeikis takes on a rare dramatic role I this drama thriller as a felon who receives early parole to visit his dying girlfriend (only to get drawn back into a life of crime) in a film that also stars Evangeline Lilly and Shea Whigham. In theaters Oct. 8.
