Marvel's What If..? supposedly has ten episodes but only nine made it through. While it was a successful one given its viewership and critical acclamation, one got delayed and was pushed to the second season. It was revealed by showrunners A.C. Bradley that it was the one with Tony Stark and Gamora, both were briefly seen in the finale.

The finale was a blast with the introduction of the Guardians of the Multiverse which was the intervention of Uatu to stop the bleeding of the alternate universes invaded by Ultron with all the six stones and one of the chosen ones was Gamora who was triumphant in defeating Thanos and described as the "lone survivor of Sakaar" which hints that she had a tough fight with the Mad Titan.

Surprisingly, she and Tony Stark are best of friends, or partners, at least that was what was seen in the finale. Stark dons an Iron Man suit as big as the Hulk buster but it seems to be one that fits the environment of being in outer space. Also, they were with Eitri that time, forging an Infinity crusher, the one to pound all the Infinity stones to dust.

In an interview with Variety, A.C. Bradley, the showrunner of What If..?, revealed that the delayed episode was about Gamora and Stark, "Basically what happened was we originally had an episode planned for earlier in the season that was a fun, light-hearted, living, breathing Tony Stark-centric episode with Gamora."

Bradley added, "However, due to the COVID pandemic, one of our animation houses was hit incredibly hard, and the episode needed to be pushed into Season 2, because it would not be finished in time. Given everything that we've all went through over the past two years, pushing an episode of television is absolutely nothing in comparison. And we understood. We hope fans enjoy the ride next year."

Bradley also shared that the appearance of Gamora and Stark in the finale acted more of a teaser than a continuation of a story unlike other characters already introduced and appeared in the finale, "I think everyone's going to be surprised by the way Gamora gets that armor, and how her relationship with Tony evolves because they're obviously good friends in that bit that we see. "

Bradley confirms that the second season will be happening in 2022, "So, it will be a fun universe to see, hopefully, next year, and I think you found the silver lining there. It is a promise of more stories to come."

With Season 2 already in the works, a lot of people are excited to see what is in store for the canon show and it was also revealed that the characters from the other live-action series could possibly be in the next runs.

Marvel's What If..? Season 1 Finale is now streaming on Disney+.
