About half-way through Tuesday's pre-season game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche netminder Pavel Francouz appeared to injure his right knee or hip. He got up, went to the locker room and did not return. Jonas Johansson replaced him in net for the remainder on the game.

On Thursday, the Avalanche announced that Francouz will miss 3-to-4 weeks with a lower-body injury.

The Plzen, Czech Republic native missed all of the 2020-21 season after having surgery to his right and left hips. Prior to playing in last week's pre-season game in Vegas, Francouz hadn't seen game action since he got injured on August 30th 2020 against the Dallas Stars.

Hunter Miska and Jonas Johansson will be competing for the backup role behind Darcy Kuemper, while top goaltending prospect Justus Annunen will likely start the season with the Colorado Eagles (AHL).
