The Ottawa Senators announced on Thursday that they've signed forward Tyler Ennis to a one-year contract worth $900,000. Ennis, 32, signed a professional tryout contract with the team just as training camp got underway last month.

He's spent parts of twelve seasons in the NHL with Buffalo, Minnesota, Toronto, Ottawa, and Edmonton. He played for the Senators during the 2019-20 season before being dealt to the Oilers on trade deadline day. In 643 regular season games, Ennis has 322 points (136 G, 186 A) and 208 penalty minutes. He's also put up 12 points (4 G, 8 A) in 24 career playoff games.

"Tyler has had a strong training camp," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He's a highly-skilled veteran whose leadership qualities should prove as valuable as they were here two seasons ago. He's capable of generating offence both at five-on-five and on the power-play, and, with an ability to play both wing positions, he'll be a good addition for us at forward."

Senators head coach D.J. Smith gave an update on injured forward Colin White, who got hurt during Ottawa's 3-1 loss to Toronto on Monday.

"Just got the news. Colin White will require surgery on his dislocated shoulder and will be out 4-6 months," Smith said on Thursday to reporters.

White, 24, was Ottawa's first round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 200 career games, the Boston, Massachusetts native has 88 points (33 G, 55 A), and 87 penalty minutes.
