Ferrari has been working on the LaFerrari’s successor for quite some time now. It has been spied many times in the past, but our spy photographers have spotted it again; this time, with the production body. Called the Icona, the car was spotted in Maranello, Italy, right outside Ferrari’s facility.

The Icona Is Still Under Wraps, But Not For Long

In the earlier spy shots, the mules with spotted with heavy skin. This time around, it was spotted with the production body. The Icona is still covered in thick camouflage, but it is clear that the car is inspired by the 1967 LeMans racer, the Ferrari 330 P4. It is said that the car will be underpinned by the LaFerrari Aperta’s platform.

Since it is based on the LaFerrari Aperta, it could have an open roof like the P4 Spyder, although the images don't suggest the same. It could even have a curved windshield and a dual-center exhaust.} Although it is the LaFerrari’s successor, which would mean it will follow the hybrid route, there are rumors that the Icona will be powered by the 812 Competizione’s engine. This is a 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V-12 mill that puts out 830 horses and 519 pound-feet of twist. In the 812 Superfast, it makes 789 horses and 530 pound-feet of torque. It will be interesting to see how the automaker plans to hybridize this engine.

The Ferrari Icona is expected to debut in November at the 2021 Finali Mondiali, Mugello. The event was supposed to be held between 2 and 8 November this year, but the automaker pushed it by a couple of weeks. It will now happen from 16 to 22 November. This means we could be seeing a lot more of the car in the coming weeks.

There are also hushed talks that the car will follow the same route as the Monza SP1 and the SP2 Speedsters. This means the Icona would be quite exclusive and Ferrari could limit the production to around 300 examples. If this is the case, then expect the Icona to start at around $3 million.
