One of the organizations I work with is The Food Bank.

I don't get to go the meetings often, but whenever I get an email from them about an event or a donation drive or anything like that I make sure to pass it on to you guys.  Food insecurity is a huge issue here in Pettis County.  It's kind of one of those "hidden problems" that don't get addressed as well as they should be.

Often times, kids will go hungry and have to rely on the Buddy Packs to have food on the weekends.  And often times, parents will go hungry to make sure their kids get the food they need.  Now, here's a great opportunity to stock up for these families.  I'm sure you probably know somebody who could use this.

Tyson will be hosting a free open to the public community food donation event held at their Plant Parking Lot this Saturday, October 9th. They will be giving away 20lb boxes of chicken from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.

Imagine how far a twenty pound box of chicken could go with a family of four.  That would take the worry out of dinner for at least a few weeks. And with a thrifty or careful hand, that might even go a little further.   So please, if you know somebody who is struggling, maybe just needs a little break from this problem, please tell them about this.   After all, this could be just the one little thing that could lift them up in these hard times.   And hey, I'm sure I've got a few recipes for chicken dinners you can use!

Thank you, Tyson, for making this donation. I hope the event goes well and that everybody who needs it feels like a real winner - chicken dinner wise.

Chickenly yours,
Behka
