The New York Post reports Matt Vasgersian is done as play-by-play announcer for Sunday Night Baseball.
Vasgersian cited his work with MLB Network and the Los Angeles Angels as motivating factors.
“I decided to call it a wrap on ‘Sunday Night Baseball,’” Vasgersian said when reached by The Post. “I can’t do everything I enjoy with MLB Network and the Angels, while still being away for nearly 30 weekends a year.”
According to ESPN, Vasgersian, a California native who attended USC, joined the network in 2018 as the third-ever play-by-play voice of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
Among the possible replacements mentioned by The Post’s Andrew Marchand is YES Network’s Michael Kay. The short list, according to Marchand, also could include Boog Sciambi, Karl Ravech, Jason Benetti, Ryan Ruocco and Dave Flemming.

Whoever gets the job most likely will be paired by the Worldwide Leader with former New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez.
Marchand reported that “With his contract up, Rodriguez’s future as ESPN’s lead analyst on ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ is uncertain. While Rodriguez does not have uniform support among the ESPN hierarchy, he has enough that ESPN’s goal is to have him return, according to sources.”
