Andrew Aleman, co-founder and managing attorney at St. Johns Title, is among a select 2021 class of attorneys who have earned board certification in real estate law from the Florida Bar Association.

The recognition requires rigorous background investigation and an extensive examination process. According to the Florida Bar Association, board-certified attorneys are “evaluated for professionalism and tested for expertise,” and only a Florida Bar Board-Certified Attorney can use the term “expert” or “specialist” to describe their services.

The Florida Bar Association includes membership of more than 110,000 attorneys working in 27 separate legal disciplines. Of the entire Bar membership, about 5,000 attorneys have earned board certification as “experts” in one of those 27 disciplines. Within the group, only 439 lawyers have passed the review and examination process to earn board certification as “experts” in real estate law.

From the exclusive group, Aleman is the only real-estate-focused legal expert headquartered in St. Johns County to have earned the distinction.

“I am honored to be recognized for special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of legal professionalism and ethics in practice,” said Aleman. “This is a vital element in my career, and I’m honored to have earned inclusion in this select and esteemed list of Florida attorneys. As the only attorney headquartered in St. Johns County, one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, I look forward to providing this legal guidance to my community and continuing to develop my practice for many years to come.”

Aleman added that the distinction carries special significance due to his parents’ sacrifice and his lifelong pursuit of legal excellence.

“My parents are Cuban exiles who were forced to leave their homes at a very young age in the pursuit of liberty,” he said. “Their stories inspired me to learn about the promise of the American dream and to learn more about our Constitution that provides the system of laws that protect that promise. I take special pride in this honor as a tribute to my community, my family and our way of life in America.”

According to the Florida Bar Association’s certification program directors, as the legal landscape grows increasingly competitive, board-certified lawyers have earned a distinct status that sets them apart from their peers.

A growing number of Bar members pursue board certification to help them stand out in what they see as a crowded landscape, a demanding process that can take years to complete.
