NASCAR crew chief suspended indefinitely after Talladega

Eddie Troconis has been suspended by NASCAR following an altercation

Eddie Troconis has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR. He served as the crew chief of the #02 Young’s Motorsports truck.

The penalty was announced on Wednesday, an addition to the weekly penalty report. It came a day after the typical Talladega penalty report.

The crew chief was found in violation of section 12.8.1.c of the NASCAR rule book:

-Physical confrontation with a NASCAR Official, media members, fans, etc.

-Member-to-Member confrontation(s) with physical violence and other violent manifestations such as significant threat(s) and/or abuse and/or endangerment.

-Attempting to manipulate the outcome of the Race or championship.

-Intentionally wrecking another vehicle, whether or not that vehicle is removed from Competition as a result.

Penalty (Section 12.8.1.c): Member actions that could result in a loss of 25-50 driver and Team Owner Points and/or $50,000-$100,000 fine and/or one Race suspension, indefinite suspension, or termination.

NASCAR did not elaborate on the violation. However, they did clarify this was not for an on-track action.

Troconis has served as a crew chief for 142 races. He’s collected two wins, both with Ben Rhodes in 2017 and 2018.

Troconis was on the pit box for driver Kris Wright last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Young’s Motorsports went to victory lane with driver Tate Fogleman.
