Buying any new truck is a huge investment. Consumers buy new trucks assuming that they will last for at least 10 years or over 200,000 miles without having serious issues. Here are the three worst new trucks to buy that are terrible investments for consumers looking to get the most out of their purchase.

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is a hassle to own

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 starts at $30,100. It gets 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The Sierra 1500 uses a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 horsepower. The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 has several powertrain options, including a 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes a massive 420 horsepower.

The GMC Sierra 1500 seems like a great truck on paper, but many owners will tell you otherwise. The 2021 model year was released in late 2020 and quickly was subject to two recalls shortly after it hit dealerships. According to CarComplaints.com, thousands of models were recalled for tire and seatbelt issues. Its power equipment, brakes, and electronics have also been found unreliable.

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 has plenty of other disappointing drawbacks unrelated to reliability. The interior is cramped and outdated compared to other trucks in its class. Its ride quality also leaves much to be desired.

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado suffers from the same issues as its GM cousin

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado is practically the same truck as its GM cousin, the Sierra 1500. The Chevy Silverado is the cooler cousin thanks to its lack of recalls, but this truck has got plenty of problems of its own.

The Chevy Silverado is the most unreliable truck of the year to many experts. The Silverado has been notoriously unreliable over the years, suffering from issues like transmission problems and brake problems (yikes). The real issue with the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado is that it just doesn’t provide enough value to consumers for the price.

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado starts at $29,300. It’s one of the cheaper trucks in its class, but like the GMC Sierra 1500, it could use a major refresh. Lackluster tech and a boring interior make this one of the worst new trucks to buy.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra is better off forgotten

Many auto enthusiasts would love to forget that the 2021 Toyota Tundra was ever released. Now that the 2022 Toyota Tundra has debuted, the 2021 model year is better off forgotten.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra is the last of its generation (good riddance). Toyota has consistently produced Tundra models that were almost identical year after year. The 2021 Toyota Tundra starts at $34,125. It gets 13 miles per gallon in the city and 17 miles per gallon on the highway…in 2021. Need I say more?

The Tundra’s interior and ride quality are insufficient for its price. If you’re in the market for a new Tundra, the 2022 model year promises to be much more exciting.

The worst new trucks this year are worth skipping

Every model listed has a better existing alternative that offers more value. The worst new trucks aren’t worth their price tags, according to consumers.

When searching for a new truck, consumers should consider factors like reliability and fuel economy. A good new truck is an investment that can last for well over 13 years with proper maintenance. Get the most out of your money by choosing a reliable truck with great fuel economy.
