Mod Pizza is launching a cherry cola "squad cake" for a limited time at its 500-plus locations in the U.S. and Canada.

The yellow cake, iced in pink and featuring sugared sprinkles, will support the brand's Mod Squad initiative that provides emergency grants via the program's Bridge Fund to help employees in need, according to a press release.

To date, MOD has provided over $1.6 million in emergency grants to squad members. The Bridge Fund was created by a group of employees that pooled money together to surprise and replace a fellow squad member's stolen bike. It is fueled by voluntary paycheck contributions from MOD employees, store events, company contributions and donations. MOD squad members can confidentially apply for grants at any time during their employment.

"MOD exists to serve people and that starts with taking care of the MOD Squad," Ally Svenson, Mod Pizza co-founder and chief purpose officer, said in the release. "Sometimes that means providing a bridge to stability in times of crisis, and that's where the Bridge Fund comes in. As our customers enjoy this tasty new cake, we hope it will be a little sweeter knowing it's also doing good."

Mod Pizza was founded in Seattle in 2008 by Scott and Ally Svenson.
